Ken "The Rocket" Korb and Lora Kendall

Open Mike starts at 7:30 PM  (sign-up at 7:00pm)

$15 General - $13 Seniors/Students

Ken Korb was born into a large musical family. The old-time music Ken loves was a constant in this home.  By the age of fourteen, Ken had picked up a harmonica and was not willing to put it down. He acquired the nickname “The Rocket” due to the “outer space” sounds he can make on the harmonica. He has shared the stage with James Cotton, Johnny Winter, Chris Smither, John Hammond, Jonathan Edwards and Alison Krauss, among others. Ken is also an accomplished mandolinist, and plays guitar, penny whistle, clarinet, and washboard! A local legend for thirty some-odd years, he’s a welcome guest-soloist wherever he goes. Ken is a founding member of the “Red River Ramblers,” which plays old style country music.

Lora Kendall has been singing all her life. Throughout her childhood and teenage years, Lora performed with her siblings as The Hubbard Sisters, appearing locally at Heckscher Park in Huntington, at the World’s Fair and on television. She began playing rock ‘n’ roll in college and went on to perform as the lead singer of a number of rock and soul bands. After college, stage performance was put on hold while Lora raised a family. During that time, she began other musical endeavors which she still enjoys — playing as a violinist in the Sound Symphony, singing in and directing a church choir, and giving private music lessons. In 2001, Lora ventured out to participate in the local music scene and is now a much sought after studio musician and sideman. Lora is a member of the Americana band, “Tornado Alley” and “The Red River Ramblers,” with Ken Korb, Tom Linden and Big George Cassidy
